Two injured after building collapsed at former Strathmore Paper Mill in Russell

RUSSELL, Mass. (WWLP) - Two construction workers were injured after a building collapsed at the former Strathmore Paper Mill in Russell.
According to a Facebook post by the Russell - Montgomery Police Department, at around 3:15 p.m., officers were called to a report of a building collapse at Strathmore Mill #1, with possible injuries.
The Mass. State Police told 22News that the construction workers were working on the boards inside Strathmore Mill #1 when part of the building collapsed. One person was taken to the hospital by an ambulance and the other worker was flown to the hospital by a helicopter lifeflight.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area for safety purposes. Woronoco Road is closed to through traffic until further notice.
