New Metrolink station coming to Mead Valley
Nov 11, 2024
A new Metrolink station connecting Moreno Valley and Perris is coming to Riverside County.
Construction on the $50.5 million project is expected to start in 2025 in the unincorporated community of Mead Valley.
Metrolink and the Riverside County Transportation Commission have partnered to build the new station, which would be part of the Metrolink 91/Perris Valley Line and be built between the existing Moreno Valley/March Field and Perris Downtown Metrolink stations.
The line serves communities along the 215 Freeway. It starts at the Downtown Riverside station, with stops in Riverside Hunter Park/UCR, Moreno Valley/March Field, Perris–Downtown and Perris-South.
The new station will be at the southeast corner of Harvill Avenue and Cajalco Road, just west of the 215 Freeway, commission officials said. Officials estimate it will be completed by 2029.
In addition to new parking spaces for carpool, rail and bus passengers, the new station will have a bus loading and unloading zone and canopies to shade waiting passengers, a commission release states.
The project will also receive $3.7 million from Measure A, the half-cent sales tax that was twice approved in 1988 and 2002 by voters to fund transportation improvements in Riverside County, along with $6.3 million in state dollars.

Also, officials announced Tuesday, Oct. 29, that the California State Transportation Agency awarded the commission $40.5 million in grant money for construction of the station.
The station is needed because more people are moving to the cities and communities along the 215 Freeway, commission Chair and Beaumont City Councilmember Lloyd White said.
“Riverside County residents need more choices as we deal with increasing traffic congestion, driven by our region’s rapid growth,” White said.
The Mead Valley Metrolink Station/Mobility Hub is a part of the commission’s Traffic Relief Plan announced earlier this year that aims to improve Riverside County’s roads and public transportation systems.
