OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahoma Schools Superintendent Ryan Walters on Monday announced the formation of Trump Education Advisory Committee to oversee federal public education policy changes. On November 8, Supt. Walters outlined a memo to Oklahoma parents and superintendents discussing five major areas where President-Elect Donald Trump proposed eliminating the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and moving to alternative funding mechanisms. The five areas include: Championing parents’ rights, ending social indoctrination in classrooms, protecting patriotism in curriculum, stopping illegal immigration’s impact on schools, and blocking foreign influence in our schools. Walters confirms a search is underway to identify education leaders and policy makers who have proven championing public education, upholding parental rights and minimizing wasteful government bureaucracy. Walters are to: Set clear priorities in alignment with President Trump’s education policies: Identify and prioritize Oklahoma’s educational needs in alignment with the new federal agenda. Replace federal programs: Develop strategies to replace or revise outdated federal programs, keeping local needs and values at the forefront. Develop legislative recommendations for President Trump’s education priorities: Provide policy guidance and recommendations to ensure Oklahoma’s education policies align with the broader goals of the Trump administration.
