Lexington native, World Series champion helping first responders

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Walker Buehler takes no days off when it comes to helping his community.
The Lexington native, who went to Henry Clay High School, is back in the Bluegrass for his annual golf outing to fundraise for first responders.
“I’ve had some really cool moments on the field, but this is what we take the most pride in,” said Buehler, who won the 2024 World Series for the Los Angeles Dodgers with his relief efforts on the pitcher’s mound.
“I told everyone that I felt like I weighed three pounds. I’ve never been more nervous than I’ve been out there,” said Buehler. “I feel like the kid that got everything he always wanted.”
The Buehler Family Foundation has raised $68,500 for the cause and will be sending several fire stations across Central Kentucky NormaTech recovery boots and massage therapy guns.
“I was very fortunate to grow up here. I think it raises you in a different way. I think it’s paid off long term and we’re very happy to still be here,” said Buehler.
