Class AA final: (2)Brighton 3, (1)Penfield 2 Brighton and Penfield battled through five sets for the Class AA title with the Bruins taking the last set 15-13 for the victory. Brighton took the first set 25-19, but Penfield rallied back to win the second set 25-14. The Patriots opened the third set with a 5-0 run, but the Bruins responded with 12 unanswered points to pull back in front. Brighton took the set 25-20. Penfield forced a fifth set after taking the fourth one 15-13. The teams battled in the fifth as Brighton led 8-7 midway through the set. The Bruins kept the momentum led by MVP Lucrezia Pavan to take the 15-13 set victory and win the match 3-2. The win marks the first sectional title in program history for the Bruins. Brighton (19-2) will face Williamsville North on November 16th in regionals. Penfield's season closes with a 14-5 record. Class A final: (1)Sutherland 3, (2)Mendon 1 After a second set rally from Mendon, Sutherland held off the Vikings to win the Class A girls volleyball title 3-1.  The Knights took the first set 25-22. The Vikings fought back to take the second set 25-22.  Sutherland was in control during the third set, outscoring Mendon 25-13. The Knights held the momentum in the fourth set to take the 25-13 victory and win the match 3-1.  Sutherland (18-2) advances to regionals and will face Williamsville South on November 16th. Mendon ends its season 16-4. Class AAA final: (1)Fairport 3, (3)Rush-Henrietta 0 Fairport defeated Rush-Henrietta in straight sets on Saturday to take the Class AAA title. The Royal Comets put up a fight in the first set, but the Red Raiders held them off to take it 25-21. Fairport won the next set 25-12 and ended the day with a 25-14 set victory to take the win. Kiera Cornman was named MVP, leading Fairport to its third straight sectional title. Fairport (18-1) advances to regionals where it will face Lancaster on November 16th. Rush-Henrietta ends its season 6-15. Class B final: (4)Aquinas 3, (2)Hornell 0 Aquinas defeated Hornell in straight sets to win its first sectional title since 2010. The Li'l Irish took the sets 25-21, 25-22, and 25-22. Abbie O'Meara was named MVP with 22 assists, two aces and two digs. Haley Bennett had 18 digs and two aces, and Savannah Hinchcliffe totaled 16 digs, seven kills, four blocks and two aces. Addison Bardwell put up seven kills with six blocks, Natalie Campbell totaled five kills and six blocks, and Addison Bardwell has seven kills and six blocks. Aquinas (15-7) will face Fredonia in regionals on November 13th. Hornell's season ends with a 16-3 record.
