ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Navajo code talkers are attributed to being a secret weapon that helped America win World War Two. This is just one of the many stories of the brave Indigenous men and women who served our country On Saturday, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, in downtown Albuquerque showcased the brave veterans for their contributions to our country and their unique Native heritage. Artist creates 123-foot-tall mural in downtown Albuquerque "One of 5 Native Americans have served in the military, 80 percent really have served. So we're not going anywhere. Why not? We just knock some of the barriers down, so we can ease the transition for people to join the military," said U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Darrell Charlee. The museum said, with the holidays coming, there will be more Indigenous events showcasing rich holiday traditions the pueblos are known for.
