PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- Virginians were among the most sleep-deprived on election night, according to a new survey.
Following Tuesday night, HostingAdvice revealed statistics to show the most sleep-deprived states and the average bedtime.
Virginia ranked as the fourth most sleep-deprived state. The average Virginian reportedly went to bed at 2:39 a.m.
Additionally, 29% of Virginians admitted that the election suspense had affected their sleep.
“It was one of the biggest nights for America in recent history,” said Christina Lewis of HostingAdvice.com. “No wonder people wanted to stay up as late as possible to find out the results!”
The most committed state was New Hampshire who stayed awake until 4:06 a.m. Those who fell asleep the earliest were residents of Hawaii, who went to bed at 9:25 p.m. Considering the significant time difference, they would have been aware of the direction of the election results by then.
