A Salute to Veterans Parade featured marching bands, classic cars, equestrian units, military vehicles and airplane flyovers.
The spectacle — a few days before Veterans Day — wowed the crowd gathered along the streets for the 16th time, taking a route from Riverside City College down Market Street into downtown.
It was one of a few veterans events held Saturday, including a car show in Corona, a parade in Jurupa Valley and an event at Riverside’s Evergreen Memorial Historic Cemetery.

The bulk of Inland Empire observances, however, are set for the holiday itself, Monday, Nov. 11. Events will include a free patriotic concert in Temecula, a Veterans Day ceremony in Rancho Cucamonga and a parade in Redlands.
At Saturday’s Riverside parade, a pancake breakfast was held before the event and a resource expo took place after.
The parade “honors the bravery and dedication of veterans from all eras,” its website states. “It brings together the community to show appreciation and support for the sacrifices made by those who served to protect our freedoms both past and present.”
