A 16-year-old inmate at a Greeley youth detention center died Tuesday after being in intensive care since last month. Authorities did not say how the teen died, only calling it a “medical emergency.” On Oct. 21, police responded to the Plate Valley Youth Services center on reports of a contraband narcotics violation in the facility, police said in a news release. Detention center staff told police that they found the teen unresponsive in his cell at 6:48 a.m. He was taken to the hospital. Anyone with information about this incident who has not already spoken to law enforcement is asked to call Detective Jackson Brunmeier at 970-351-5352 or [email protected].
