(COLORADO) — In case anyone needed another reason to stay home away from the roads, most hotels eastbound of many main highways and roads have no vacancy. Colorado State Patrol (CSP) warned individuals who may be thinking of heading out today that if they are planning or are traveling eastbound on I-70, I-76, Highway 50, 40, or 160, they should not be expecting to hunker down and wait until the storm clears due to hotels being all booked up. "Please do not plan to go as far as you can and then wait for the storm ride out," CSP wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter). "Hotels in these areas are BOOKED SOLID! If you are traveling east, we are asking you to delay heading out until this storm completely clears." Most of the Eastern Plains — besides part of Eads and Lamar — are under a Winter Storm Warning until 5 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. The National Weather Service (NWS) expects snow that could make travel difficult to impossible. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. If you must travel, it is recommended that you keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
