Nov 08, 2024
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- After years of anticipation and work, the space along M Street in Northwest long left empty by the departure of Dean & DeLuca will have a restaurant filling it.
Osteria Mozza DC, which describes itself as "a celebration of traditional Italian cuisine, seasonality, and culture," said it would open on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The restaurant marks the East Coast debut of Chef Nancy Silverton who has a Michelin-starred restaurant in Los Angeles.

In terms of the atmosphere people can expect in the space, the restaurant's website says: "Just beyond the charming terrazzo-tiled entry mercato, guests are greeted by a sweeping Mozzarella Bar, where chefs compose artful flights of freshly imported cheeses and antipasti. The sprawling dining room exudes refined rusticity, with warm woods, weathered Grottaglie ceramics, leather banquettes, and a captivating copper-clad open kitchen. The enchanting solarium brings the outdoors in, offering year-round dining under a canopy of palms and olive trees reminiscent of the Italian countryside."
Among the items on the menu are handmade pasta and "fire-grilled fare," as well as dishes from Silverton's Tuscan steakhouse, chi SPACCA, and the pizzas of Pizzeria Mozza.
