ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) - The Virginia Department of Forestry has reported that drying conditions have affected fall foliage in Virginia. The dry conditions have caused shorter peak foliage as leaves are drying up and easier to blow off trees with light breezes. These conditions are also increasing risks of wildfires, and residents are urged to be cautious. National Weather Service issues Red Flag Warning across DMV Some areas are still in foliage with peak areas of oaks, maples, and hickory trees holding the pops of color, but in the swaps, (yellow) water tupelo, and (orange-bronze) bald cypress take the show.
