ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A woman accused of killing her sister in Honeoye Falls and throwing her body into the Genesee River was in court Friday.
Jamie Jo Busch, 53, allegedly strangled her sister Penny Busch on the evening of October 8 in her home on Ontario Street in Honeoye Falls. According to a felony complaint from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, she threw her sister's body into the river sometime between October 8 and October 12.
Penny Busch was reported missing after police performed a welfare check at her home on October 11. Investigators found her body days later.
Jamie Jo Busch was arrested on October 18 and charged with second degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. She was arraigned in court Friday and pleaded not guilty.
"It's a domestic case, so family dynamics are going to be huge in helping us try to figure out first what happened, but also why it happened," Monroe County Special Assistant District Attorney Jessica Wagner said. "I can't say we have an answer to why yet."
Bail was set at $250,000 cash. Busch is scheduled to return to court in January.
