SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A driver crashed into a fire hydrant in the Gaslamp Quarter Thursday night, sending a geyser of water up into the air. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. near Fifth and Broadway streets. Police say the driver who hit the fire hydrant took off and no witnesses came forward with detailing information. Traffic was shut down in the area for about an hour before city crews were able to stop that flow of water. Everything reopened around 12:35 a.m. Friday. There are no reports of any injuries at this time and police and investigating the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (619) 235-8477.
