RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Jewish Food Festival is returning with a new date and new location. On Sunday, Nov. 10, and Monday, Nov. 11, from noon to 9 p.m., Keneseth Beth Israel will serve a variety of dishes including potato latkes, brisket, matzah ball soup and more. The full menu with prices can be found here. Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment from My Son the Doctor, Klezm’Or’Ami’m, Flat Branch and Rudlin Torah Academy. Chuck Lessin, the synagogue president, told 8News that preparation begins weeks in advance. "The recipes involved are really priceless," he explained. "They have been handed down for several generations of our members. You will get a taste of it on Sunday and Monday. Best stuffed cabbage ever, corned beef -- you name it. They really are these very old recipes." Lessin also explained the story behind the historic synagogue. "We are Richmond's only traditional synagogue," he said. "We have almost 160 families that are members. We are 167 years old. We've been at this location for about 55 years. The past few years, the food festival has been at the JCC on Monument, and this year we decided to move it back home here and also to move the time -- it was in January." Entry to the festival is free. Keneseth Beth Israel is located at 6300 Patterson Avenue in Richmond.
