Suspect charged in shots fired incident in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred on Main Street in Fall River on Thursday.
The incident also occurred in the area of Hood and Robeson Street.
Darell Lane-Sanders is facing numerous charges; including possession of a large capacity firearm, discharge of a Firearm Within 500 ft of a building, resisting arrest, and multiple other charges.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. that night, police responded to the 700 block of North Main Street after multiple calls were received reporting gun shots being heard in the area.
There were then additional regarding active gunshots being heard in the area of Hood and Robeson Street.
Police said they responded to both locations to investigate, as additional information was being received regarding a possible suspect vehicle, along with a male suspect who was observed in possession of a firearm.
As officers were responding to the area of Hood and Robeson Street, another caller told police that the shooting suspect was observed operating a green Jeep Liberty and had crashed into a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival to the area, police said they were flagged down by a witness who directed them toward the suspect Lane-Sanders.
The officers then observed the suspect walking near the green Jeep Liberty, which officers noted as having multiple gunshot holes to its driver’s side.
Lane-Sanders was detained, who was found to be in possession of a seventeen round firearm magazine and an ice pick.
While this was taking place, officers were flagged down by another witness who reported seeing Lane-Sanders walking around on Hood Street with a firearm in his hand, and then showed investigators where he had exactly dropped the firearm.
The firearm was then located and is identified as a Glock 9mm equipped with a thirty-two (32) round extended magazine containing 9mm ammunition, with a round loaded in the chamber.
A total of 10 shell casings were collected.
