NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)—Superstar Taylor Swift could very well be the "Most Valuable Performer" to ever perform at Caesars Superdome. The Superdome has seen incredible acts over the years but Swift is no doubt a stand-out. For years, fans will talk about the time they saw her perform at the Superdome. Her mega-popular "Eras" tour feels different, and that's because it is different. It is a musical extravaganza with a superstar of magnificent proportions. Her show orbits our world, making us all feel things that we didn't know we could feel all at once. What you are witnessing is a like a shooting star, in our presence for only a moment in time, but bringing a sense of beauty and connection to our world. On Night 3 of her sold-out consecutive nights of shows, she brought the energy without a minute of the audience sensing she was tired. Taylor Swift made us feel nostalgic, empathy, sympathy, gratitude, hope, humility, and most of all love. No one can deny that Taylor Swift is a true athlete. Her athleticism of singing and dancing her heart out continuously for three and a half hours is no easy feat. The New Orleans Saints have won several games at the Superdome over the years, and are part of the fabric of our city whether they win or lose, but this superstar, who doesn't even live here, grabbed our hearts in a way that only a musical masterpiece can. She is winning! Only at a Swift show would the merchandise line of people, be longer than the beer and cocktails line. That's something you won't see at a Saints game. Some fans waited hours in line to get exclusive merchandise, and you didn't hear any complaints. Fans did it for the love of the experience. They wanted that memento from their "moment in time." Taylor Swift has the ability to make fans feel as if she's singing directly to you, while singing to nearly 70,000 concert-goers. As she swiftly performed songs from the various 'Eras' of her career such as, "Lover," "Fearless," "Red," "1989," "Folklore," "Reputation," "The Tortured Poets Department," and "Midnights," fans were treated to a show that felt like a playground filled with shimmer and shine, a sing-a-long, dance party, all mixed into one. Fans in New Orleans for first night of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ Tour Her concert was vulnerable without being moody. The show was gorgeous, yet approachable, and ultimately it was intimate, yet huge. When you attend this show, it is as if time stops, you don't think about anything else, but what you are witnessing in front of you. You are living in the "now." Fans are not paying attention to anyone or anything around them. One thing you'll notice their eyes are glued to the stage, or their phones in the air capturing all the magic. It is a personal experience with thousands of fans, while Swift is the conductor orchestrating some may call a "swiftie symphony." One thing that was noticeable is Swift's ability to make you feel like you are singing and dancing with this song storyteller, rather than the feeling that she's removed from her fans. She feels like a friend. On Night 3, she mentioned how fans trade friendship bracelets at her shows and the giant friendship bracelet hanging from the Superdome and designed by artist Shawn Kolodny of "Big Shiny Balls." “I roll into New Orleans and there’s a giant friendship bracelet on the outside of the stadium, you did that,” Swift said. Taylor Swift gives a local 11-year old “Swiftie” her autographed hat There was a moment on Night 3 while she was performing, "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" from "The Tortured Poets Department," which proved just what an MVP (Most Valuable Performer) she really is. A stage piece which fans have dubbed "Roomba" malfunctioned. Typically fans said that it moves remotely around the stage. On this night it didn't for some reason, but Swift dismounted, kept singing, and walked down the stage runway, which the "Roomba" typically moves down. Swift and her magnificent dancers didn't miss a step, continued singing, and continued the choreography. Most fans who aren't familiar with the set wouldn't have even noticed that there was anything different. It is fitting that she performed in New Orleans as part of her second leg of the "Eras" tour, because New Orleans is America's soul. Taylor Swift's soulful music, and ability to connect people through music with a soulful experience goes hand in hand with New Orleans' vibe. From the costume changes, moveable stage sets, confetti, and even fireworks, everything was done bigger and better than any other stage show in recent memory. Fans are truly getting a 3 and a half hour Super Bowl-like halftime show, and yet Swift leaves you wanting more. "Swifties" even say after her "Eras" tour they feel like they are in "Lavender Haze" themselves from Swift's sensory soiree. All of this makes Taylor Swift the MVP: Most Valuable Performer; something her fans already know "All Too Well."
