When its high school integrated with its college facilities four years ago, Salem Academy and College was left with an 80,000-square-foot building. It has finally decided the best thing to do with it – transform it into a $30 million hotel. The all-girl’s school, which has both a boarding/day high school and a college, has selected Mayfair Hospitality Group to redevelop its former high school building as a boutique hotel and conference center open to the public. Slated to open in 2027, the hotel will be run by a to-be-determined national chain. Plans call for 86 hotel rooms, as well as multiple meeting rooms, a restaurant and a bar. The building will also retain its banquet hall and 250-person auditorium. Read the full story on the Triad Business Journal’s website.
