FORECAST: Elevated fire risk for Friday
Nov 08, 2024
Happy Friday, DMV! We finally made it to the end of the week and today will be another dry day across the area. A few clouds will be seen as we head through the morning hours before clouds give away to sunshine this afternoon. Gusty winds will shift out of the west gusting upwards to about 25-30 mh. With dry conditions and gusty winds, this will lead to an elevated fire risk today. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for much of the DMV. This will go in place at noon today and last until 6 p.m. this evening. If you plan on being around any open flames make sure to stay cautious.
As we head through the evening, winds will begin to die and we will be sitting under mostly clear skies. Overnight lows will be dipping into the 30s and 40s making it a chilly night across the area. So if you have any late-night Friday plans make sure to grab the jacket. We kick start the weekend with once again dry and sunny conditions. Highs Saturday afternoon will be right around seasonable for mid-November reaching into the 60s.
Sunday, will start off dry but clouds will increase across the area. A cold front will approach our area on Sunday afternoon. As this cold front moves into the dry airmass across the DMV this will provide us with light showers, Sunday afternoon into the evening. Highs on Sunday look to stay in the 60s.
Showers come to an end as we head through Monday morning with a mix of sun and clouds returning to the area. The first half of the week will remain quiet and dry with highs reaching into the 60s. Models are hinting that another storm system with more moisture will move through late Wednesday night until Thursday providing us with soggy conditions.
