BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Bakersfield Museum of Art hosted its final "Art After Dark" event of the year. Guests were encouraged to show up in costume with their faces painted in celebration of the Mexican holiday, "Dia de los Muertos." Several local artists and community members created beautiful and vibrant altars to honor their loved ones who have passed on. 16-year-old girl reported missing, last seen on Sunday: Bakersfield PD The museum's Sculpture Garden was transformed to keep with the holiday theme. "It's such a beautiful holiday, it's not about celebrating how negative death is but about how we just lost people," said Victor Gonzalez, curator of the Bakersfield Museum of Art. "It's about celebrating their life in general and being, uniting together as one. That's really what this holiday is about...celebrating that and bringing it with the arts because art is all about celebrating yourself and uniqueness and expression." Art After Dark is in its 9th year at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.
