Man gets 31 years to life in prison for shooting San Francisco Safeway security guard

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A man was convicted of shooting a security guard at a San Francisco Safeway in 2022, SF District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced Thursday. Andre Brown, 52, was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison.
The shooting happened on Oct. 29, 2022, at the Safeway located at 4950 Mission St. Brown walked into the store at 5:50 p.m., took Nutella and several other items, and tried to leave without paying, according to Jenkins' office.

The victim followed Brown out of the store, and Brown turned around and fired twice. The guard was struck on the groin and hospitalized.
Brown was found and arrested on a Muni bus several blocks away.
He was convicted of a litany of charges including second-degree robbery and assault with a semi-automatic weapon. He had previous convictions for attempted second-degree robbery and second-degree robbery.
“Mr. Brown has been convicted of numerous violent crimes and will now face consequences for his criminal behavior,” Jenkins said. “The sentence imposed by the court recognizes the seriousness of Mr. Brown’s crimes and delivers justice to the victim.”
