Bluffton Football off to strong start thanks to offensive duo

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) — Bluffton Football has started the season 6-3, one win away from matching its best start since the 2017-2018 season.
"I think the communities really excited to be good at football again," said Bluffton Head Coach Hayden Gregory. "I'm really excited to give a good football team to this community and these kids are really proud to be that for a lot of people."
The Bobcats have an explosive offense powered by star quarterback Aedan McCarthy. McCarthy is currently ranked 8th in the state of South Carolina for passing yards.
"I really think he's one of the best quarterbacks in the state of south Carolina and he's proved that this year," said Gregory. "Stats aren't everything but the biggest thing he does is that he wins, in all of our games so far he's given us a chance to win and that's all we can ask from him."
McCarthy taking full control of this offense, as a junior.
"It really just comes with playing the quarterback position, said McCarthy. "You have to step in and be the general, be the leader, make sure everyone's on the same page."
Another huge weapon for the Bobcats is junior wide receiver Carnell Warren. He is averaging nearly 100 receiving yards per game.
"Our offense is very electric," said Warren. "I think ever since last year when I got here it was just a spark of what we could do."
McCarthy and Warren have built a strong connection that has proved hard for defenses to guard.
"It's really just simple," said McCarthy. "If it's one-on-one I know it's going to him, I'm gonna put it in a spot where only he can get it, and if they try to bracket him it opens other stuff for other people. That's really all it is."
Bluffton will look to build momentum going into playoffs in a rivalry game Friday, the Bobcats host Hilton Head Island at 7:30 p.m.
