1yearold boy clings to life following Brooklyn SUV crash

A 1-year-old boy was critically injured after an SUV slammed into the child in Brooklyn on Thursday, cops said.
The toddler darted away from his mother on 59th St. mid-block near 12th Ave. in Borough Park when the driver of a Ford Expedition struck him around 3:23 p.m., according to police and witnesses.

Medics rushed the child to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, cops said.
Rivky Stein, 29, was sitting outside her 59th St. home when she saw the little boy break away from his mom and dash into the street.
“The baby ran out into the street and his mother ran right after him,” said Stein. “It happened in the blink of an eye.”
“The poor little thing was face down and looked unconscious,” Stein added. “The driver stayed on the scene. He looked so sad. So sad.”
The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and there were no arrests.
The crash is being investigated by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
