Nov 07, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As seasons change and the weather gets cooler, the New York State Department of Health recommended that every New Yorker ages 6-months and older get the 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine.
The NYSDOH referred to the CDC’s latest COVID-19 recommendations. Officials also noted that the CDC recently recommended a second dose of the new vaccine be received by adults ages 65 and older, as well as those who may be immunocompromised, six months after the initial dose.

Additional doses of the vaccine may be administered as well for people who are immunocompromised. Folks will need to speak with their healthcare provider to determine whether or not three or more shots is necessary for them.
Eligible New Yorkers will be allowed to receive the vaccine at any pharmacy without a prescription from their primary care doctor.
