SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - People can soon get a Christmas tree from Sequoia National Forest and fourth graders with a valid Every Kids Outdoors pass can get one for free.
Officials with the national forest say that the Kern River Ranger District is offering a limited number of permits for people looking to cut down a tree in the forest.
The cost for a tree will be $10 and will be issued on a first come first served basis, according to officials.
Officials say that a permit must be purchased and it will be limited to one household. Permits are good through Dec. 25.
Officials also say fourth graders with a valid Every Kid Outdoors pass can get a free Christmas tree permit to enjoy their family. They say that a pass can be acquired by visiting this website and completing the application process.
The Hume Lake and Western Divide Ranger Districts will have a limited number of pre-cut Christmas Trees available for purchase in office only, while supplies last.
Permits will be available on Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. PST. To purchase a permit when it becomes available, click here.
