Officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department were dispatched to A Place to Play community park at 2375 West Third Street at around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a multi-vehicle crash. Police received a report that a gray Lexus sedan had been driving recklessly in the north parking lot before losing control and crashing into four parked cars. All four cars were occupied by parents waiting to pick up their kids from soccer practice. One woman in one of the cars suffered minor head and shoulder injuries in the crash. She was treated and released by medical personnel at the scene. The driver of the Lexus, police said, tried to flee the scene immediately after the crash by running to a nearby trail. Bystanders began running after the man and were able to physically detain him until police got there. Officers detained and handcuffed the suspect without incident. The investigation was taken over by an accident investigator with the Santa Rosa PD Traffic Division. Investigators determined that the suspect, 19-year-old Angel Uribe of Santa Rosa, was driving west through the lot and crashed into a parked Chevrolet Tahoe and then into a GMC Sierra. At the time of Wednesday's crash, he was out of custody on pre-trial supervision for another DUI arrest on Aug. 7.
