Man arrested, charged in Halloween night shooting in southeast Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A 61-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection to a shooting on Halloween night. It happened in the 9200 block of E. Harry.

James C. Evans first appeared in Sedgwick County Court on Thursday afternoon. He was charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon.
Kansas students among many getting hateful text
The victim was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery. Police said the victim was at an apartment with several others when the Evans arrived. He was allowed into the apartment and requested that a woman accompany him. When told to leave, Evans left but returned shortly afterward. Police said he knocked on the door and fired a single shot as the door opened, striking the victim in the upper body.
Evan's bond is set at $500,000.
