TOPEKA (KSNT) - A local woman is looking forward to the grand opening of her new boutique this weekend in west Topeka. 27 News spoke with Michelle Gormley, owner of Apricot Lane Boutique, about what she has planned for guests to her store this weekend. She said she is holding a grand opening from Friday, Nov. 8 through to Sunday, Nov. 10 with special prizes for guests. "I've always had a passion for fashion," Gormley said. "I felt like this was a great need for Topeka." Gormley, a first-time business owner, held a soft opening for her new boutique on Oct. 24. She said she took a "leap of faith" with deciding to start her own shop after spending years working for Hill's Pet Nutrition. National cheer, dance championships coming to Topeka "I was born and raised in Topeka," Gormley said. "Just looking to do something different with more purpose, make a difference in the community." Gormley's biggest goal is to run a store where all feel welcome and everyone can find what they need. People who decide to visit her boutique during the grand opening celebration are eligible for several prizes including: A "special free gift" with a purchase of $75 and a chance to win a $200 shopping spree. Saturday only - Free swag bag to the first 50 customers with any purchase. Apricot Lane Boutique is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. at 2727 Southwest Wanamaker Road in Suite 100. You can call the boutique at 785-408-1240. Gormley also encourages high school and college students looking for part-time work to reach out if they want to work at her boutique.
