Brush fire erupts near Frenchman’s Flat

L.A. County firefighters stopped forward progress on a 50-acre blaze near Frenchman’s Flat, west of Interstate 5, at 2:27 p.m. Thursday, with the fire at 10% containment, according to Fire Department officials.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly after noon to the 39000 block of Golden State Highway for an incident dubbed the Frenchman Fire, according to Kaitlyn Aldana, spokeswoman for the Fire Department.
Approximately eight units and three helicopters were dispatched at 12:10 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 12:16 p.m. said Aldana. There were more units that had been dispatched but had not arrived on the scene yet.
Aldana said the fire grew to 50 acres after being initially estimated to be 75.
No structures were threatened. Firefighters conducted an evacuation of the area that impacted one person, Aldana said. There were no injuries reported.
