PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — R.I. House Republicans have reelected Rep. Michael Chippendale as their minority leader and Rep. David Place as minority whip.
The House Minority Caucus voted unanimously to reelect the pair during a caucus held this week, as is typical following an election year. Chippendale, of Foster, has served as minority leader since former House minority leader Blake Filippi decided not to run again in 2022.
"The House Minority Caucus has grown, and I’m grateful to Rhode Islanders for making that possible,” Chippendale said in a statement after the vote.
Place, who represents Burrillville, said it was "a great responsibility and honor" to continue serving as the party's whip in the House.
“I look forward to working with Leader Chippendale and our members to continue in our role as the opposition party for the betterment of our state,” he said in a statement.
