MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a violent shooting in southwest Memphis in August. According to MPD, officers responded to the Horn Lake Express at 3135 New Horn Lake Road just before 2 a.m. on August 21. He was taken to Methodist University and then transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. On August 24, investigators watched video footage from the business, which reportedly showed a man, identified as 20-year-old Keshawn Taylor, speaking with the victim inside the store. Taylor is then seen pulling out a gun and pointing it at the victim's chest. Keshawn Taylor (SCSO) The victim moved the gun away, and Taylor shot him at point-blank range in the chest, police say. Taylor allegedly ran from the store and tried to get into a car with another man, but he was not able to. The man inside the car was taken into custody on unrelated warrants on August 30. The man identified Taylor as the person responsible for shooting the victim inside the business. On October 2, officers spoke with the victim, who has reportedly been on a ventilator since the shooting on August 21. MPD says he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest that barely missed his heart. The victim also identified Taylor as the man who shot him.
