Carmel gives update on fall construction projects
Nov 07, 2024
CARMEL, Ind. — Fall is in full swing, and so are the construction projects in Carmel. On Thursday, the City of Carmel provided an update on a series of construction projects taking place this fall.
College Avenue:
In a press release, Carmel wrote that initial stormwater work has been completed on College Ave. This will allow utility relocations to continue through the rest of 2024 and into 2025. Following that, Carmel said the road contractor will return in the spring to start working on the roundabout at E. 96th Street and N. College Avenue.
Per Carmel, construction in this area will help update utilities and stormwater collection, increase safety and connectivity for pedestrians, landscape the right-of-way and improve intersections with new road design.
Roundabout at 106th Street and Hazel Dell Parkway:
According to the City of Carmel, construction should wrap on this new roundabout by Thanksgiving. In the future, the city plans to add raised pedestrian crosswalks, which will help pedestrians connect with the new pedestrian bridge over the White River.
The multi-use path at W. 116th Street:
Carmel wrote that they will close the westbound lane of W. 116th Street between Shelborne and Michigan Roads on or after Nov. 18. This closure will allow contractors to work on the new pedestrian path located on the north side of W. 116th Street, and is expected to last through December. W. 116th's eastbound lane will stay open. The city said any remaining work will be conducted in the spring.
Roundabout at W. Walnut Street and Veterans Way:
Carmel said this roundabout should be completed and open by the end of November.
Roundabout at Pennsylvania Parkway and Liberty Fund Drive:
Construction on this roundabout should be complete by Thanksgiving, according to the press release.

This construction project is expected to be open to traffic by the end of the year. However, Carmel said that "...finishing touches [are] expected to take place in 2025 once utility relocations are complete."
