Undercover officers lead to drug bust; Man faces 8 felony charges

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- One man has been arrested after attempting to deal fentanyl to undercover officers leading to the seizure of nearly 16 grams of fentanyl and other drugs.
On Wednesday, officers with the Kosciusko County Narcotics Enforcement Team or NET, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group or SOG, executed a search warrant in the area of Beaver Dam in southwestern Kosciusko County. Citizens provided several drug tips to the team in regard to the area, which led to an investigation and search warrant.

In the search, the NET43 team found items associated with dealing drugs at Tyler James Hanish's residence, which is located at 9505 S 750 W. Hanish was also arrested for previously dealing a fentanyl-containing substance to undercover officers 3 separate times.
Officers were able to recover, 15.71 grams of fentanyl, 1 pound of marijuana, mushrooms, an AR-15 Rifle, 2 handguns, pills and drug paraphernalia in the search. A report from the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA, reported that .002 grams of fentanyl is a potentially lethal dose, which means that the amount found had the potential to cause 7,855 deaths.

Hanish faces charges of;
Count I: Dealing in a fentanyl-containing substance, a Level 2 felony
Count II: Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony
Count III: Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony
Count IV: Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony
He also faces more charges as a result of the search warrant issued which are;
Count I: Dealing in a fentanyl-containing substance, enhancing circumstances, Level 2 felony
Count II: Possession of a Narcotic drug. Enhancing circumstances, Level 5 felony
Count III: Maintaining a common nuisance, Level 6 felony
Count IV: Possession paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor
Hanish's bond is currently set at $52,500.
