(COLORADO) — While the storm may look like it is leaving later on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7, "...the next round is expected to be worse than what we have already seen," according to John Lorme, Director of Maintenance and Operations for the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). "Treacherous, sustained adverse winter conditions are expected along the eastern plains and southeastern Colorado," wrote CDOT. "Drivers should be prepared for long-term closures and should avoid driving in the most impacted areas of the state for the duration of the storm." CDOT advised drivers to avoid traveling east of I-25 and from south of I-76 to the New Mexico and Kansas state lines. It also shared a map of storm impacts across the state through Saturday, Nov. 9. Much of southeastern Colorado is shaded in purple, with extreme impacts expected. "Travel is discouraged through the duration of the storm from the Palmer Divide to Colorado Springs and south and east of Pueblo from Friday afternoon, Nov. 8 through Saturday."
