MINOT, ND (KXNET) — A Super 8 Hotel in Minot caught fire when a vehicle near the building became fully engulfed in flames. Crews from the Minot Fire Department responded to a call of a vehicle fire at 6:53 Wednesday night. They found the vehicle and the exterior of the west side of the hotel on fire. Officials say the first fire crew on scene was able to quickly put the fire out. More fire crews responded and immediately started to evacuate guests from the hotel. Minot fire inspector Stuart Hammer says there are many different ways a car fire can happen. Vehicle fire extends to Super 8 Hotel building in Minot "There's so much potential with a vehicle to cause a fire. Leaving it to run for extended periods of time can cause it to overheat and you know any number of things. So if you have a car starter let it run for a limited amount of time before it shuts off automatically, but if you turn it on and you get busy doing something else, then your car overheats, then the next thing you know you have a fire," said Hammer. The cause of the fire is unknown and is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshall's Office. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
