BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Schools from Kern County begin their postseason run at a CIF Central Section football championship this week. Some divisions begin the postseason in the quarterfinals while others have opening rounds with some teams getting byes into the next round. Twenty-two teams from Kern County are in this year's CIF Central Section football playoffs. Nine of them host games this week. Previewing the 2024 CIF Central Section football playoffs Liberty is the 6-seed in Division I-AA and will begin their quest for another section title in Fresno against section rivals Central. In Division I-A, three schools from Bakersfield -- Bakersfield, Frontier, Centennial -- make up the eight-team bracket. Seven Kern County schools make up the field in Division VI.
