BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The driver of a speeding vehicle that ran a stop sign and collided with a Bakersfield police vehicle -- resulting in two fatalities -- has been identified.
Ignacio Javier Banderas Hernandez, 29, of Wasco, was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash last month at Kern and Niles streets, according to the coroner's office.
A woman passenger who died was previously identified as Krystal Rubi Reynaga, 26, of Wasco.
Neither Hernandez nor Reynaga wore seatbelts, police said.
A 2-year-old boy in the car suffered serious injuries. Police said he was not in a car seat or buckled in.
The two officers in the police vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The crash happened at about 5:40 a.m. on Oct. 13. Police said the car was speeding north on Kern Street and ran the stop sign at Niles Street, traveling directly in the path of the westbound police vehicle, which didn't have a stop sign.
