President-elect Trump significantly outpaced Vice President Harris among voters who cited a candidate's "ability to lead" and "bring change" as the most important qualities for their vote, ABC News exit polling showed. According to the polling, 30 percent of voters said a candidate's "ability to lead" was most important to their vote. Of those respondents, voters preferred Trump to Harris by more than 30 percentage points, 66 percent to 33 percent. The divide between the two candidates was even more stark among voters who said a candidate's ability to bring change as most important, the polling revealed. Trump outpaced Harris by 50 percentage points, 74 percent to 24 percent. The other two qualities listed were "good judgment," which 20 percent chose as a candidate's most important quality, and "cares," which garnered 18 percent of voters, the polling showed. Of the voters who chose good judgment, Harris led Trump by more than 60 percentage points, 82 percent to 16 percent, the polling revealed. Of voters who said the most important quality was that a candidate "cares," Harris beat Trump by nearly 50 percentage points, 73 percent to 25 percent. Among Trump supporters, the polling showed that 81 percent combined chose "ability to lead," at 40 percent, and "bring change," at 41 percent, as the most important candidate qualities for their vote. Among Harris supporters, 35 percent combined chose "ability to lead," at 21 percent, and "bring change," at 14 percent, as the top quality for their vote, the polling showed. Top qualities among Harris supporters were "good judgment," at 34 percent, and "cares," at 28 percent, which garnered more than 60 percent combined of voters, the polling revealed. ABC News also noted that Harris and Trump fared similarly when it came to favorability ratings, with 47 percent of respondents viewing her favorably and 52 percent unfavorably. For Trump, 46 percent rated him favorably compared to the 53 percent who viewed him unfavorably. However, ABC's exit polling showed that Trump beat Harris by 26 points among voters who rated both of them unfavorably, 56 percent to 30 percent. Methodology was not immediately available.
