SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Ahead of Veterans Day, a group of U.S. Marines are running from MCAS Miramar to Camp Pendleton to honor those who have served in the armed forces.
That run began early Thursday morning, with servicemembers seen in motion while also bearing the branch flags as they made the trek north.
The run, roughly 60 miles, is meant to pay tribute to the many men and women who have served in the nation's military, protecting the freedoms of San Diegans and all American citizens alike.
The Marines are expected to complete the run in under 10 hours with a captain telling FOX 5/KUSI that the group was about an hour ahead of schedule around 8:30 a.m.
