McKee delivers remarks at the first hybrid ferry built in RI

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Governor McKee delivered remarks at the dedication of the Captain Almer Dinsmore, a 154-foot ferry built in Rhode Island.
The vessel is the first hybrid ferry to be designed and constructed in the Northeast.
According to a release, the Dinsmore uses hybrid diesel-electric propulsion systems to cut emissions, reduce maintenance, and increase overall efficiency.
According to Senesco, the Dinsmore is the first hybrid commuter vessel of its kind to be designed and built in the Northeast.
It was commissioned for use by the Maine Department of Transportation’s Casco Bay Lines ferry service.
Capt. Almer Dinsmore is, a retired mariner and the namesake of this vessel, was in attendance at the ceremony.
Numerous other officials were there including Senators Jack Reed, Sheldon Whitehouse; U.S. Representatives Seth Magaziner, and Gabe Amo.
