Providence police officers to be promoted to supervisory ranks

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Brett Smiley will join Colonel Oscar Perez today to announce the promotions of 21 members of the Providence Police Department.
Members will be promoted to the supervisory ranks of Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant and Detective.
According to a release, the officers being promoted are “highly decorated, veteran members of the department and many have served in a number of various capacities throughout their careers and are known for excellence in the field of law enforcement.”
“As we celebrate the officers being promoted today, I would like to emphasize the importance of the roles each officer plays and acknowledge their commitment to public service and the values they uphold,” said Perez in a statement
The event will be held at 3:15 p.m. at the Bishop McVinney Auditorium.
