Chickasha Municipal Courts begin 'FOOD FOR FINES' through Nov. 22

CHICKASHA, Okla. (KFOR) - The Chickasha Municipal Court in the City of Chickasha for the month of November is giving residents a way to give back to the community.
According to the Chickasha Police Department's Facebook page, the 'FOOD FOR FINES' program set to benefit the Chickasha Emergency Food Pantry is on a roll at the Chickasha Municipal Court collecting food items. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items in exchange for a reduced fine on an active ticket with Chickasha Municipal Court.

The following items are being collected:
Canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned meat and tuna, canned or bagged beans, bagged or boxed rice, bagged or boxed cereal, boxed macaroni & cheese, boxed crackers, and 4-pack toilet paper.
*$10 off for every item brought in - $100 MAX credit per individual. Dented, rusted, unlabeled, glass or expired food will not be accepted.
For credit to be received, items must be delivered to Municipal Court by the individual who the ticket was issued to. The Chickasha Municipal Court also says, those who have outstanding warrants may participate without fear of being arrested and will be set up on a plan if there is a remaining balance.

Time: Monday - Friday (*during office hours)
