NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a string of armed robberies in the French Quarter and Marigny areas on Wednesday, Nov. 6. NOPD officials said the first armed robbery was reported in the 700 block of Governor Nicholls Street around 7:23 p.m., where an armed man allegedly demanded another man and a woman give him their money and jewelry. Man convicted of murder in death of NOPD officer At 7:44 p.m., NOPD officials said another armed robbery was reported near the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and Royal Street, where officers say a man allegedly demanded another man for money at gunpoint before leaving the scene. According to the NOPD, two additional armed robberies were reported in the 700 block of Frenchmen Street at 10:03 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Investigators said that an armed man allegedly snatched a chain from another man's neck before getting into a fight for his watch and running from the area at 10:03 p.m. New Orleans police investigate homicide on Crozat Street At 10:40 p.m., the NOPD reported that two men and two women were walking in the area when a man allegedly held them at gunpoint and asked them for money. According to investigators, there is "strong suspicion that these armed robberies were committed by the same person and are attempting to identify and locate the suspect."
