NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Audubon Nature Institute has named Michael Sawaya as its new President and CEO. Audubon officials said Sawaya will replace Ron Forman, who held the position for 53 years and announced his plans to step down this year in August 2023. How Donald Trumps re-election will impact Louisiana Audubon leaders said Sawaya was selected after a search committee made a recommendation to the board. According to a news release, Sawaya served as the President and CEO of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, where he "headed the strategic development of The River District." He currently serves as co-chairman of the Super Bowl 2025 Facilities Committee and is on the Board of Directors for New Orleans and Company. Audubon officials said he is also involved with the Greater New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
