LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! We are tracking dreary and rainy conditions today. The good news is that the rain will be slowly exiting south and eastward throughout the day. The bad news is that it will be slowly exiting and the lingering cloud cover will give the rest of the day a dreary feel even with the rain exiting. Temperatures will be split today, with warmer temps in the 70s for southern Kentucky, and the upper 50s for northern Kentucky. Tonight we will slowly clear the skies out which will give way to a clearer and cooler morning on Friday. You can expect a seasonable day on Friday with cooler morning temperatures with afternoon highs climbing into the low-to-mid 60s. The forecast for Saturday continues to improve, especially during the morning and afternoon hours. You can expect cooler morning temperatures, followed by dry conditions through the daytime hours. Saturday night into a Sunday a stronger system will be pushing through the area. This system will bring another round of some rainfall, upwards of 1-2 inches in spots across central Kentucky. The rain will stick around through most of the day on Sunday as well. This system exits early next week as we dry out late Monday into Tuesday. You can expect above average temperatures to continue into next week as well. Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.  ABC 36 HOUR FORECAST THURSDAY: Cloudy skies as rain slowly exits. Highs in the 60s and low 70s south. THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy early with a stray shower, becoming mostly clear late. Lows in the 40s. FRIDAY: Skies clear and pleasant.
