CALUMET, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Fond du Lac County say they are actively investigating a situation in which 70 dogs needed to be removed from a home.
According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, deputies carried out a welfare check at 11:27 a.m. on November 6 at a home in the town of Calumet.
Officials say the home had an unpleasant odor and while attempting to contact residents of the home, they discovered 70 dogs in various stages of health.
After being granted a search warrant, deputies reported the home to be in "deplorable condition" and, due to the unsanitary and hazardous conditions, the Calumet Fire Company was brought in to assist on the scene with hazmat equipment.
