Corned Beef on Rye Sure to Satisfy Fundraiser returns

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Over one thousand corned beef sandwiches will be prepared, served and devoured at the 22nd annual Corned Beef on Rye Sure to Satisfy Fundraiser on Thursday.
According to Meir Bargeron, Congregation Achduth Vesholom's Rabbi, each meal includes an "authentic Jewish deli-style luncheon." Each box comes with a corned beef on rye sandwich, weighing in at one third of a pound of meat. Sides include a pickle, coleslaw, a brownie and a drink.
New this year, ordering day of can be done in-person at the temple, with no drive through.
The congregation has received around 1,500 online orders leading up to the event, but temple members say the are prepared to sell hundreds more at the fundraiser.
Bargeron said both volunteers and people looking for lunch from all over the city come to the Temple for the sandwich and stick around for the community.
"People get to connect with each other and talk," Bargeron said. "Sometimes they're not even members of the temple, they just like to come and help us out."
Proceeds go towards Congregation Achduth Vesholom's general operations.
The fundraiser is hosted at the Congregation Achduth Vesholom Temple located on 5200 Old Mill Road from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals are $21.
