Come write with us Are you obsessed with cocktails, coffee that isn't Starbucks, ramen, tacos, or just about anything else in Dallas’ food and restaurant scene? If you also happen to have a skill for writing, there might just be a spot for you at Eater Dallas. We're currently seeking smart, enthusiastic writers and photographers to contribute features, news stories, and dining guides to Eater Dallas on a freelance basis. Please take some time to read through Eater Dallas’s stories over the past few months for an idea of the types of stories we cover. We are currently especially interested in profiles of local chefs and restaurant owners with new projects or unusual angles, features that highlight off-the-beaten path restaurants, and surprising stories about interesting things that local establishments and people are up to. We would love more pitches on barbecue spots that have been overlooked by Eater Dallas, stories about iconic restaurants that have made it work through the years, and fresh takes on things Dallas loves to eat — brunch, steak, and burgers. As far as maps go, we are specifically looking for writers who are familiar with Fort Worth and the cities west of Dallas to write city guides. Note: Eater Dallas does not run restaurant reviews. We’re also interested in working with new photographers. Contact us about rates and how we work, especially if you have experience in photojournalism and photo realistic work. Include a few links to previous writing and any other relevant professional experience along with your pitch. We are unable to work with writers who have not yet been published at this time. Feel free to reach out if you just want to feel us out for assignments and have previous writing experience — it doesn’t necessarily have to be in food. No resumes, please. Rates are set based on the scope of the story, but we average $300 for a roughly 600 word single source piece and increase that as the story grows in scope. Things we don’t need: social media copy, social media content, copywriting, lists, reviews, duplicates of work we’ve already published, more coverage of restaurants and figures we’ve already covered.
