A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Thursday on the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway in Fuller Park on the South Side. Around 12:25 a.m., a vehicle struck 28-year-old Rashid A. Shepard in the left lane at 43rd Street, Illinois state police said and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. Shepard, of the citys South Side, was dead at the scene at 12:44 a.m. and the motorist was hospitalized with minor injuries. Southbound lanes including the Chinatown feeder ramp were reopened around 4 a.m., state police said. No further information was immediately available.
