INDIANAPOLIS -- An hours-long stand-off at a home overnight on the east side of Indianapolis ended early Thursday morning with no injuries reported and an arrest, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
According to a post on social media from IMPD, officers responded to the 200 block of S. Gladstone Ave. at around 12:44 a.m. on Thursday. At the time, officers asked members of the public to avoid the area.
On Wednesday evening, officers were initially called to the home on Gladstone Road on a report of a person armed, according to IMPD Deputy Chief Tanya Terry, the officer at the scene of Thursday morning's incident.

A woman who called dispatch reportedly said she was being held against her will by gunpoint inside the Gladstone Road home. Terry said that IMPD officers reportedly found the woman near the home after she reportedly escaped from the home.
After finding the woman, IMPD officers attempted to locate the suspect at the Gladstone home. Terry said multiple announcements were made for the suspect to leave the home. The department's SWAT team, as well as detectives, were called after the suspect was reportedly not cooperating with officers.
Early Thursday morning, a search warrant was conducted for the home. Terry said that IMPD deployed flash-bang devices, as well as tear gas, inside the home. After officers attempted to force entry, the suspect reportedly fired upon officers. No officers were injured and the stand-off continued.

Terry said that officers on the scene continued with ongoing negotiations and additional deployments of tear gas at the home to "peaceably resolve this situation," Terry said. Officials said the suspect continued to fire a firearm. Terry stressed that no one, including officers and citizens, was struck. Officers are still working to locate what was struck by gunfire.
IMPD officers later made entry into the home and were successfully able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect was taken to a local hospital. No injuries were reported by the woman, IMPD officers and members of the community, Terry said.
Terry said that the IMPD officers in this incident did a "commendable job" in their multiple hours of negotiation. Terry said that it was not a safe situation, as the suspect reportedly continued to fire a gun inside a home located in a residential community.
Hours later, at around 4:24 a.m., IMPD said in an updated post that a suspect was in custody as a result of the incident and that there were no injuries and no threat to the community.
